Time to explore land as we stepped ashore in Grenada, our furthest southern stop in the Caribbean. First on the list has to be the chocolate museum and cocoa plantations!

I wrote the boys a quiz on chocolate and “school trip” it was! We also looked at all the spices such as nutmeg growing on the island.

With a walk to a waterfall and dip in fresh water and land excursion was complete.

We did the tour with three other yachting family boats. With 9 children between us it was a lively and great fun tour.

Time to sail north now.

This small island, aptly named Sandy Island lying off Carriacou is totally idyllic.

It’s definitely my favourite place in the Caribbean to date.

The water is an unbelievable transparent aquamarine above the white sand.

The snorkelling is amazing with shoals of stunning fish with pelicans flying above and dive bombing into the water to fish around you. Even the shoals of barracuda are impressive. The children have all enjoyed swimming and playing with coconuts and bamboo too.

I could stay here forever!

The daily boat maintenance now has two little helpers.

If I am in the middle of a lesson and the boys hear the engine room key being used they run to it! But it’s great to see them check the oil and change the filters with Russell, even if it is about 60 degrees in the engine room!

We are sailing south through the Caribbean and our latest stop was at the tiniest island of Morpion. Its a tiny area of white sand with one thatch sun shade!

It was great to anchor off and swim/paddle board to explore. It’s just off Petit St. Vincent if you are trying to find it in google earth, and yes the water is that beautiful. My adjectives to describe the aquamarine blues and turquoise of the sea just don’t do it justice. It blows my mind and we are honoured to spend such a wonderful time here. It’s like swimming in an aquarium with the occasional small reef shark too!

We moored off Petit Vincent amongst the super yachts and monster motor cruisers (one was 460ft long complete with 6 swimming pools!!!). The private beaches looked stunning and we treated ourselves to one drink and a shared pizza in the beach bar to avoid breaking the bank!

So if you’ve seen the movie, this is the beach, called Petit Tabac. It’s as stunning as you can imagine and the boys were in conch shell heaven with literally hundreds on the beach. They even made a tower of them whilst playing. They were beautifully left behind though, as this is a protected marine park.

The most stunning water and beaches greeted us in Tobago Cays for New Year. Even as we anchored a couple of turtles swam past.

We had a fabulous beach barbecue complete with lobster and a lovely lazy day playing on the beach. Idyllic heaven 🏖🐚⚓️⛵️

We celebrated a wonderful Christmas with sailing families on the beach at Bequia in the Grenadines. A great beach bbq with the children happily playing in the water all day. Huge thanks to Grandad for making and bringing out a Christmas cake – to the amazement of other sailors. It was super yummy, everyone wanted some!

Now it’s time to enjoy the Caribbean! The boys are loving the warm water and are swimming everyday.

Grandad (Mac) was kindly here to meet us when we arrived and bought the boys their first ever coconut 🥥 (from a hilarious floating shop!) and a much sought after ice cream!

We sailed to Marigot Bay and enjoyed some R&R in the hotel pools as part of the marina, highly recommended if you are cruising here.

We did a short hike into the hills with Grandad. It reminded me of hiking in Hong Kong with the heat and humidity. Very hot and sticky in the rain forest!

Despite being a family boat we managed to win our division (We did work hard to sail fast).

ARC 2019.

First in class.

First yacht with children.

5th overall out of 120 yachts in the world’s biggest Ocean yacht race.

So delighted smiles all round at the Arc prize giving. Paul we missed you, might have had your share of rum punch though!!

The boys also won the Junior Cup for being the first family boat in the Arc 2019. They were over the moon and their trophy is their prized possession proudly displayed in their cabin.
